Food is an integral part of our lives, bringing people together, evoking memories, and creating a sense of belonging. Whether it's a cherished childhood dish or a newly discovered flavor, food has the power to connect us.
In tribute to my family, who passed on family recipes from generation to generation, I embarked on a project to preserve these treasured dishes and memories. Nothing was ever written down, every ingredient and technique was memorized and refined through the years. With this project, I aim to not only honor my parents but also to pass down these recipes to future generations, so they too can experience the joy and comfort of these beloved dishes.

In my family, nothing was ever written down—recipes lived in memory, evolving with each generation. The challenge was not only to preserve these dishes but to capture their essence: the techniques, the emotions, and the cultural significance they hold.

Storytelling Through Design
Every recipe is more than just ingredients—it's a memory, a feeling, a tradition. Inspired by the little scribbles, notes, and annotations people often make in their notebooks or recipe books, I designed a visual and interactive experience that brings those moments to life. Using imagery, typography, and layout, I aimed to evoke the warmth and familiarity of those handwritten sidenotes, creating something that feels both nostalgic and personal.
User Experience & Accessibility
Since the goal was to make these recipes easy to follow and engaging for all generations, I designed a format that is both intuitive and visually appealing. The interface is aimed to be clean, warm, and inviting—encouraging users to not only cook but also explore the stories behind each dish.
Bridging Tradition with Modern Technology
While the recipes come from an oral tradition, I embraced digital tools to document them—whether through an interactive website or an app. This ensures accessibility while maintaining the authenticity of the original recipes, but also makes them ready for future generations to explore them.

Food Memories is an evolving project. I envision expanding it by incorporating more family stories, inviting others to share their own food memories, or even turning it into a collaborative archive that brings together diverse culinary traditions.
